Thursday Come Quickly

Kody is getting tubes put in his ears on Thursday morning. He was doing so much better and at his last checkup the specialist said his ears look okay but that some fluid was still inside. On Sunday morning he became irritable and extremely fussy. A few hours later he started running a fever again. We called the doctor immediately and started him on another antibiotic. On Monday his right eardrum ruptured again…
So now the only way to resolve this ear crisis is through tubes. I’ve asked several times for his specialist to put tubes in Kody’s ears. The doctor kept saying he wanted to try medication first. Everything would make him better for a few days and then it would start back up again. I don’t know why my little boy is so sick. He’s been a very healthy kid up until recently and it seems like his immune system just can’t fight it off.
Kody’s first in line on Thursday morning for surgery. The surgical center called me today to clear up last minute details. I’m worried, nervous but also excited. My excitement comes from knowing that he will finally have relief. I’ll be with him almost through the entire procedure, which should take less then 30 minutes. It will be heartbreaking to see him scared. I know he’ll cry and wonder what’s going on around him. I just want him to know that it will be for the best and I’ll be there to hold his hand.
